They do say any publicity, even bad, is better than no publicity. But cola
is a backwater newsgroup on Usenet (the backwater of the 'Net). Don't
expect CNN to be snooping around cola looking for a Linux scoop.

You sure, 'cause it's laughably easy to find stories about unscheduled Linux
reboots, ala http://www.mcgees.org/2005/10/13/linux-reboot/
I like the t-shirt that says Eat. Sleep. Code., but the others are typical
anti-MS goofs by Linux morons who can't think about anything but MS and
Windows. Combine those t-shirt messages with the type of people who would
actually wear them in public, and you'll have people swearing off Linux in a
hurry. |

People who don't like Windows.
Apparently, based on statistics, a lot of Windows users visit it.

I actually had to reboot a Linux machine tonight to get it to display
web pages properly. Restarting apache didn't do the trick."
LMAO. What a moron.
This is all you got, DFS?
Pathetic.

An idiot says he had to reboot linux to get web pages to display properly?
Did he bother to clear his browser cache???
FFS...
My P111 only gets rebooted after I install a new kernel.. sometimes up for
60 days or more... no worries, no cares... Linux is stable.

Read the reply to the reply to that message. Had services running that
the box would not support, apparently.

Also a spontaneous reboot.
Extree extree from DFS, read all about it!
MISCONFIGURED OR FAULTY HARDWARE CAN CAUSE SPONTANEOUS REBOOT!!!!

2000? Usually.
XP? Less often. I've seen more blue screens and network problems on
XP than I ever saw on NT 4.0; in fact, XP is more like NT 3.5
as far as stability goes.
2003? Not bad. Needs a bit of care.
Vista? The word on the street isn't too good.

Alert the media: "advocate" blames hardware for Linux reboot!
How many times have cola idiots whined that if a 3rd party app takes Windows
down it's evidence of Windows inferiority? So what's the difference if it's
an app or a piece of hardware?

Can you reliably reproduce a BSOD on XP?

It's a rock.

hmmmm... I see virtually every OEM preinstalling it and selling it. |

Nice switch around - but you got my point.

Microsoft is not the answer.
Microsoft is the question.
NO (or Linux) is the answer.

They don't have amuchchoice. XP is not going to be around much longer. And
naturally they'll sell the latest OS.

No, I haven't even tried.

Not in our experience. It does work pretty well, in general. Win
2003's "clustering" is a friggin' joke, though.
