Hi, all.
Running two boxen. One is Win 98 with software firewall, spyware, and
ad-ware control measures in place. Second is Mandrak 9.1 more or less out
of the box (no significant changes/updates, etc. <howls of protest> I
know: Update to ensure my security).
Box 1 has shared files/folders, etc, and I login using my Linux
userid/password. There is no issue with access/read/write to my linux home
directory. I´m assuming I´ve got that part of Samba set up correctly.
Box 2 automounts under Samba to box 1 via Samba. As root, I have full
access/read/write privileges to that mount. As non-root, I have access and
read but not write. Again, everything looks and acts about the way I
expect.
LISA on box 2 sees my Win shares. Again, everything in order at this
point.
Here´s the poser. Nautilus file manager under sees the files and
subdirectories on the shared drives with no issues: all names correct,
read/write permissions correct, etc. OTOH, Konqueror sees all files at the
top level of the directory structure on the shared drives. Subdirectory
names are truncated by one letter at the beginning.
I´m guessing here that the glitch is to be found in Konqueror or some
part thereof. I´ve searched on Google, kde.org, samba.org,
lisa-home.sourceforge.net, and other web sites, but found nothing that
would explain such a phenomenon.
May I please have some recommendations for where to turn or what to do
next?
