Post subject: Bug#424700: Iceweasels spinner causes 100% cpu load on PPC
Archived from groups: linux>debian>bugs>dist (more info?)

Package: iceweasel
Version: 2.0.0.3-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hi!

Iceweasel causes upto 100% CPU usage on my two PPC systems. Roughly 80%
is consumed by Xorg, the rest by Iceweasel itself. Because everything
else seems to be fine with Xorg, like OpenGL screensavers and other
browsers like Konqueror, and it just happens when the spinner icon is
running, I suspect Iceweasel to be the cause (or something Iceweasel
related). I can't remember whether Icedoves spinner produces the same
problem or not, but I'll try when I answer your reply... Smile

Regards,
Ingo

Well, it's been some time since that bugreport and IIRC it was caused by the
iFox theme. After using the default theme, everything was back to normal.
I've just re-enabled the iFox theme again and it still seems to be ok. So I
guess the problem vanished in the meantime.
The point of the above bugreport was the high load represented by Xorg when
looking at top. Currently iceweasel causes 100% CPU load as well, but this
time it seems to be spent on rendering the web pages.

Difficult to say, because I'm heavily suffering from #428307 when using
Icedove... Wink

I guess you can close the bug for now...
