You can grab the package at

ftp://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-ati/xser...-xorg-v
and install it with dpkg -i <filename>.deb

>From what I see in the logs, you already use xserver-xorg-core 1.3. So
you won't probably need to upgrade anything to satisfy dependencies for
this new driver.

nope. it hangs all the same. I've reinstalled the system from scratch,
maybe you want all possible logs again...

I have to check again how to make it start at all (the standard install
gives me an unstartable system), but I think that these instructions were
attached to the bugreport... hope to have time today in the afternoon
(UTC+0200)

can you possibly tell me where to find all possible kernels,
with modules?

All possible ?

Some of them are in ftp://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6

Some older ones are in http://snapshot.debian.net/package/linux-2.6
Click on the date in the big table at the end to get access to the .deb
files. Or use the apt lines at the top of the page to get them with apt.

Could you send the output of 'lspci -vvvnn' ?
I'd like to check the I/O resources of your system, especially which
device the following range belongs to:
(WW) ****INVALID IO ALLOCATION**** b: 0xf0000400 e: 0xf00004ff correcting

The log says I/O @ 0x0400/8, I am wondering whether there could be
a confusion between 0x0400 and 0xf0000400.

There's a new xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4-2 and xserver-xorg-video-ati
1:6.6.193-3 in unstable, could you give a try? (once they will be built
for powerpc, which shouldn't be too long hopefully)

I'm on unstable and do regularly (dist-)upgrades... I'll check the
current version of the two packages and restart X using them, I'll keep
you posted.

Any news about this? It would be good to test 6.7.195 from experimental
since this is where all the work is being done upstream nowadays.
