Question about the usability of a PS3 with Linux

Take a look at Yellow Dog Linux:

http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/

They specialize in Linux for the Cell processor.

It's not Debian, but they do have some good tools for doing serious
development on and for the Cell.

Hi,

I professionnaly work with ag (Aurélien Gérôme, a DD), I know that he uses
debian on a ps3 as a workstation some months ago. You can maybe ask him for
further details... (ag CCed)

Depends what you want to do with it. For Cell programming, it's OK.
For heavy desktop work, there's not that much RAM.

Due to the bug already mentioned, you still need to use your own kernel to
install Debian with the standard installer.
However, I installed Debian using debootstrap more than 2 years ago

Accelerated graphics.

Make sure you get a display that has either HDMI or DVI-D _with_ HDCP.
Else you have to fall back to component, S-video, or composite.
