Hi,
Sweden did the Daylight Savings Time change this night. When I got up,
put on the coffee and went over to my computer, the normal Opera
10.00.4585.gcc4.qt4 was locked up and used 100% CPU:
top - 09:22:20 [...]
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1698 grahn 30 10 429m 198m 19m R 98.4 19.8 447:16.77 opera
I bet if I count back 447 minutes, I arrive at the time when local
time got pushed back an hour.
I will file a bug report through the proper channels.
/Jorgen

And the bug is DSK-268808 DeleteThis @bugs.opera.com
strace(1) told me that the hung opera was doing stat("/etc/localtime",
....) every 6 ms or so. Nothing else in terms of syscalls.

Nice one, I didn't think of this when Opera was locked up when I woke up.
The good thing is that they have almost a year to fix it, since I think
the clock going forward won't have the same effect

Yeah -- I wonder what has happened in the weekend regression tests at
the place where *I* work

The current DST switch day in Sweden is harmonized with the EU --
that's why it's so bloody late in the year nowadays. Maybe Norway
"harmonized" itself too even though they're not members.
I would have thought that some regions in the world did the shift
earlier, so Opera users there would have reported the bug already.
Maybe they have -- this is not the kind of bug which makes a company
push out emergency updates.

Yes, we have. I saw the same at home yesterday, but didn't realize it
was the dst shift until I got into office today and saw the same
behaviour here.

Nope. According to wikipedia
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_around_the_world) they
got only this week because Canada and the US shift on the first sunday in
november which will be next sunday.

Actually the bug is DSK-268805. I have duped yours to it.
P.S. Please do not post full bug email addresses.

Oh, thanks for letting me/us know. And apologies for not mentioning
in the bug report that I had started a discussion here -- I suppose
the vast majority of users never visit opera.linux.
> P.S. Please do not post full bug email addresses.
For the spammers? Oh, sorry. Didn't think of that.
