Ok, Hi !
I'm going to install Fedora on my pc, and since that's quite like redhat I
put my questions here..
First off, I am thinking of using the same swapvolume for my Windows and
Linux installation. Since Fedora doesn't have default support for ntfs (at
least my friend says so), I have to recompile the kernel after installation
to get the NTFSsupport, but the swap(dump?)-drive has to be named during
installation, can I change the swapvolume after installation ?
Or, as I recall, "back in the days", u could compile the kernel how u wanted
during installation, can I get the NTFSsupport then ?
Second, which should I install first ? Linux or Windows (yes I am going to
install it, can't skip...) ? I've heard that linux has a better bottmanager,
is it so ?
So, how do I solve this ?
TIA

Linux doesn't support NTFS in proper form - you can read from NTFS
Partitions, but its better not to write on those partitions. The linux
swap partition needs to be formated as "swap", so you can't use this
parition for both windows and linux. But you only need at about 1024
MB's for each of them, the size should't be that problem.
Due to speed reasons the windows swap file should be on the first
harddisk and in the first parition in your system - normally the same as
your windows installation.

Yes, the linux bootmanager "grub" is much better than windows
bootmanagers. I suggest to install first windows and then linux, fedora
will tell you during installation what you have to do and who to prepare
your harddisk(s).
And if you want to interchange files between windows and linux it's the
best if you create another partition (vfat) for windows - i.e. for your
personal files. Then you can grab those files under linux to.
