Hi NG,
ich versuche hier den ndiswrapper ans laufen zu bekommen. Brauche
WPA/PSK. Meine Intel 2200BG kann das nicht unter linux. Hab schon den
neien ipw 2200 1.0.1 am rennen. Mein Prob, ich installiere den ndis mit
make, make install, ndiswrapper -i inffile, modprobe ndiswrapper
Soweit keine Fehler. Aber laut doku sollte in der /var/log/messages
sowas stehen wie wlan0 add oder so. steht bei mir nicht. ich hab nur
ndiswrapper version 1.0 loaded)preempt=no,smp=no)

Sorry for the English response. I tried to get WPA to work with the 2200
and ndiswrapper, and was not able to do so-- nor with the ipw2200 native
driver (they state that it does not yet work).
The linuxant "driver" may however work if you want to pay the $20. |

It is an option, not a suggestion.
a) Intel spends their time making the Windows driver, and the Linux one is
a sideline.
b)ndiswrapper is a hobby, and can be slow getting features implimented,
while linuxant is a job and they want to stay ahead of ndiswrapper. Thus
linuxant may well work better.
All of ipw2200, ndiswrapper, and linuxant work. Only linuxant has support
for WPA as far as I know. All have support for WEP as far as I know.
So, if WPA is a requirement, then your only option is linuxant as far as I
know. That will probably change in a few months or a few years. |

As a follow up, WPA is coming to the official driver.
Here is the latest 1.1 version featuresi from README.ipw2200.
_____________________________________________________
1.1. Overview of Features
-----------------------------------------------
The current release (1.0.1) supports the following features:
+ BSS mode (Infrastructure, Managed)
+ IBSS mode (Ad-Hoc)
+ WEP (OPEN and SHARED KEY mode)
+ 802.1x EAP via wpa_supplicant and xsupplicant
+ Wireless Extension support
+ Full B and G rate support (2200 and 2915)
+ Full A rate support (2915 only)
+ Transmit power control
+ S state support (ACPI suspend/resume)
The following features are currently enabled, but not officially
supported:
+ WPA
+ long/short preamble support
The distinction between officially supported and enabled is a reflection
on the amount of validation and interoperability testing that has been
performed on a given feature.
