Hi,
....I've got a long-lasting problem here and finally I'm taking care on it.
Ever since the first update to kde 4.1 from the (at that time) unofficial
source, I'm missing some (but not all) of the application icons in kde.
My current system: debian/sid using kde 4.2.2
It's most probably a misconfiguration of my kde system, since for example
okular for sure has an application icon coming along with it...
applications affected (just to name a few):
- - okular
- - gwenview
- - kgpg
....
Other applications (e.g. konqueror, Konsole, kmail, ...) show the correct
icons?! As already mentioned - this is the case since a really long time and I
think it's more an update-though-several-sources-bug than a packaging bug
My current desktop settings:
- - widget style: oxygen
- - theme: oxygen
- - icon size: 48
Thanks for any hint to trace this...

Try deleting (or moving to another place if there are things you want to keep)
the ~/.kde/share/icons/ directory, specially if you have installed custom icon
themes.
At least this worked for me, meny icons reappeared.

thanks for you tipp - but it didn't help - still seeing a lot of question-
marks instead of icons ~/.kde/share/icons isn't re-created when moved away
- - so it seems to be a system-wide problem ?!

Hi,
short update - tried a new user, still missing icons. When I use the menu
editor to assign a new icon, e.g. for okular, it's not found in the
applications-icons-section

Hi,
....re-installed kde-icons-oxygen, changed to other icon themes - still no
luck.
Interestingly the icon's are in place, e.g.
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/okular.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/apps/okular.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/okular.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/okular.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/okular.png
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/okular.svgz
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/okular.png
....part of package okular.
I have no clue where to look next - anyone out there?
Thanks,
Andy

....and another one:
just installed kvpnc - which has *plenty* of icons coming along, but most (nut
no all?) of the icons within kvpnc are shown as question-marks:
- - connect - question-mark
- - disconnect - question-mark
but:
- - manage profiles: shown
- - new profile (wizard): shown
maybe an icon search path is missing somewhere (where to look for it?).
Icons on my system are distributed in
/usr/share/icons
/usr/share/kde4/apps/<app>/icons/*
....so for example the missing kvpnc icons are in place:
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/locolor/16x16/actions/connecting.png
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/locolor/22x22/actions/connecting.png
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/locolor/32x32/actions/connecting.png
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/hicolor/16x16/actions/connecting.png
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/hicolor/22x22/actions/connecting.png
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kvpnc/icons/hicolor/32x32/actions/connecting.png
any hint ?
Thanks,
andy

Dear package maintainers,
.... I would really appreciate any hint on where kde default-icon-path's are
stored or how I could proceed in finding the problem with the missing icons
 !
Currently I have no further idea on where to look at, how to debug or what to
do. Totally clueless
Many thanks for any hint!
Andy

Hi,
....the update yesterday to 4.3 (btw - great job!) did not solve my problem
(which is was hoping it would do ).
Where das KDE store application to icon mappings? I created a new user and the
problem still exists (e.g. okular icon is not shown - neither in krunner nor
when starting okular).
since nearly all packages where updated yesterday, it must be s.th.
configuration specific - systemwide.
Where could I start searching for this misconfiguration?
thanks for *any* hint,
Andy
