Need to add an application in SUSE 10.3. When trying YAST2/Software/
Software Management, searching for the needed application, selecting
the package and clicking "Accept", YAST2 requests insertion of CD1...

My assumption is that there should be a way to instruct YAST2 to
connect to an other PC supplied with a CD/DVD reader and install the
package "remotely". For example via Ethernet using NFS or some other
alternative?

Is there anyone that can suggests a procedure?

Just disable the CD/DVD from software repositories and
add the 10.3 repositories like
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/oss/
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/non-oss/

You also want packman, maybe vlc, and so on.

These are also available and needeed for stuff like multimedia etc.

Use YaST for all this:

http://opensuse-community.org/Repositories/10.3
