Hi

I am trying to access (mount) an external (USB 2.0) dvd. I can 'see' the
drive in usbview as a 'usb2.0 storage device'. It appears in
'/proc/scsi/usb-storage' and in '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/'.
However I am unable to mount it getting the reply that the above
/dev-file 'is not a block device'.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks

Jacob Klitmøller

Do you have SCSI support in your kernel?

Yes, I do have SCSI-support in my kernel - however I found that I have
not enabeled all options.

SCSI disk support is enabled, and so is generic support, but not SCSI
CDrom support. I'll recompile and see what happens.

Thank you

Jacob

Hi

The path does not exist, perhaps due to me not building the correct
options in the kernel.

Thanks

Jacob

Do you have UDF support for DVD drives?

print v.

To output, even if to a screen. If a hacker
says that a program "printed a message", he means this; if he
refers to printing a file, he probably means it in the conventional
sense of writing to a hardcopy device (compounds like `print job'
and `printout', on the other hand, always refer to the
latter). This very common term is likely a holdover from the days
when printing terminals were the norm, perpetuated by programming
language constructs like C's printf(3). See senses 1 and 2 of
tty.

Hi

After a recompile, following your suggestions, the USB-drive is now
accessible. Thank you.

Jacob

Hi

To fast to name the operation a success. I do have access to the
external drive now, however if I disconnect the drive either by cutting
the power (ext. power) or by disconnecting the usb-connector - the
system freezes about 5 sec. later. Reboot only way out.
This does not hapen if I do the same with my usb-stick (no external
power, of course)!!

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Jacob
