Not so confirm it, but suggest you use cifs as smb is no longer
maintained in the kernel.
Here I let windows access a samba share from the linux server, I
don't bother having the linux box mounting windows shares. Not
noticed any file corruption -- and I burn CD/DVD in 'doze box from
the linux cifs share without issues.
