Nah.
Linux: You have log tables, a theodolite and a sextant, a magnetic
compass, a telescope, LORAN and a GPS that sometimes works and sometimes
doesn't and every single map that anyone has ever made, covering all the
territory ten times over, but you just cant find the right one..and a
car you have to make yourself, but its a good one. Goes off road.
Mascintosh has the GPS working perfectly, and so do the maps, but
contains only maps to where apple think you want to go, and once you
move outside that there is no way to tell where you are. But they do
provide emergency get you home support at a huge price..and the scenery
is always pleasing. Its like a chauffeur driven limo. Cant do dirt roads
worth a damn, but will get you to the mall in style and comfort.
Microsoft provides a GPS that's flaky, and a limited set of maps mostly
leading to places where you end up spending money. Really its more like
public transport: If it happens to get you where you want to go, or
wherever everyone else is going, and you can stand the delays and
strikes and blue screens, and don't mind running the risk of catching
something off your fellow passengers, and try to ignore the obvious bits
of suspension poking up through the floor, its cheap and does well enough. |

*nix did databases before DOS was around.

The *BSD fanboys are going to be *so* mad at all of you!
I would like to slightly modify Chris' contribution:
Linux: Go anywhere you want, anytime you want, any way you want. Bring
a big tool box.
Apple: That dog has a puffy tail!
Microsoft: "Let me tell you @#&!%&%@ General Protection Fault"

What, Microsoft has an error message that is straight out of the
Robert Redford movie "Sneakers"?

You /could/ just ask Google. They run their entire service on Linux servers
and databases.
Or, you could ask the NYSE, or the Deutsche Borse; they both run their
trading systems on Linux and databases.

Actually, it would have been Seatec Astronomy.
One of the better computer-hacker movies out there. |

Or you could ask the London Stock Exchange. They _used_ to run their
entire trading system on Windows:

Yep, there is genuinely one that rabbits on about "too many secrets".
too many bits of encryption on your machine/in registry or other.
