Your link looked for gtk-engine and several packages are found.
Unfortunately, it doesn't find the wanted package which is
gtk-qt-engine.

I just downloaded it -- it's a 58K tarball.

Thanks. I'm thinking of going back to KDE 3.5.

Not that it helps you, but on Mandriva it is one of the contrib files in the
distro. That suggests that they consider it of secondary importance, and I guess
SUSE does as well. It may be in some secondary source location ( the wquivalent of
the mandriva contrib). If necessary you could get the source rpm from Mandriva and
try compiling it.

Thanks. I think I'll return to KDE 3.5 for another year. KDE4 might have
more of the stuff I want by then Smile

I have a similar problem, but mine are with an organization I support. They
are nixing any upgrade that requires a new user desktop due to the cost of
training the staff just on a new desktop GUI. I'm still working out the
logistics of using KDE 3.5 with 11.2. So far, there are too many things
that don't work as well - or even work right - with KDE 4.3 in my testing
so KDE 4.3 is a show stopper here in and of itself. I like a lot about the
new kernel in 11.2 but KDE 4.3 isn't ready for prime time on these systems.

Just tried:
"The requested URL /~davidsansome/gtk-qt-engine-1.1.tar.bz2 was not found
on this server."

Ah, wel...

I've had a look at the build service repo and it looks like it's been
removed. The KDE3 version still exists, but that's not much use for
KDE4.
