I'm no expert on wifi router/repeater setup, so my opinions may be
worthless. Having said that...
If both devices use the same channel, and are within range of each other,
then the signal from one device will be the "noise" for the other device.
This means that the s:n ratio when connecting to either device will be
lower (and thus, there will be poorer connectivity) than if the two devices
used different channels. There was a thread on comp.os.linux.networking
discussing a situation like this, just recently, which came to the same
conclusion.
If it were me, I'd put each device on their own channel. I'd survey which
channels have the highest s:n ratios (or, which channels do /not/ have
other wifi devices on them), and pick two channels from that list. This
way, neither wifi device will have major interference from any other wifi
device.

None that I can think of. But then again, I'm no wifi expert.
