My XP1000 used to work, but a power hit took appears to have taken out
the SCSI
adapter, a KZPBA-CX... Is this the only SCSI adapter which will work
on the XP1000
in SRM or are there others?

This is a long shot, but just in case it helps a little and
you can't find anything better...

When I was using my UP2000-based Alpha machine, I had
understood that its design was pretty similar to the XP1000
(though the XP1000 was higher-end in some ways and I
understand had a more developed SRM). I had a PCI SCSI card
in my UP2K that worked quite well, after I got the cable
termination issues and wide vs. narrow bus issues straight.
My notes from seven years ago call the card an NCR 53C875,
though I seem to recall there was another batch of three
letters (LSI?) that were sometimes used to refer to the
card.

Yes, IIRC LSI made a SCSI adapter based on the NCR53C875 chip.
SRM usually works with the Qlogic ISP1020/1040 chips too.

Or did LSI buy Symbios and with it the chip? I can't remember.

I have 4 refs of cards supported by SRM for AS series; XP more recent,
thus better support for larger variety.

what I use:
ISP10x0 (10, 20, 40, 80)
53C875, 53C876

For use with D1000, I use specifically a 53C875 by LSI, but it is also
manif by some other people.

You find a NON-EXHAUSTIVE table here:
http://moon.hanya-n.org/comp/alpha/hct/scsi.html
on.hanya-n.org/comp/alpha/hct/scsi-linux.html

(it lacks very old cards that work fine for me)

http://people.freebsd.org/~gioria/snap/CURRENT/src/release/doc/fr_FR.I...859-1/h
french, but easy to translate with google.

Those cards that work for me should work for XP1000.

A windows story:
http://www.alphatek.info/index.php/Processeurs_DEC_Alpha

I would love those tables to include P-ATA and S-ATA cards :s

http://cgi.ebay.fr/LSI-SYM22801-Dual-UW-SCSI-22801-SUN-X6540A-348-0036...QQitemZ
22801 and 22802 also work fine (emdebing 53c875 from memory)
