Using VMWare to boot linux patition.

Hi,

I regularly switch between winxp pro and mandrake 10.2.

Lately this has become a bit of a pain so I looked into using vmware and
found I could use the physical parition that linux was on inside vmware.

After a few little glitches I have managed to get my linux partition
booting inside vmware whilst running windows at the same time. Vmware
didn't like the fact it was a SATA drive and wanted I reference them all
as hda rather than sda.

I added a new entry to my menu.lst so that when I do raw booting
everything is labelled as sda<N> and when booting it via vmware they are
labelled hda<n>. Now the problem I have is wih the fstab file. I have
two of them whcih is a pain as I need to keep switching depending on
what way I booted.

Is there anyway to change the fstab file I reference depending on how i
booted? I was thinking about using LABELS but I don't want to mount my
windows partitions in linux if i've booted via vmware.

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
