I want to install MYSQL on RH9

First of all I try to uninstall the package. RPM gives me the message
that the package is not installed. Than I'm trying to install the
package and got the message that the package is already installed.!!

Any ideas how to solve the problem?

[root@localhost mike]# rpm -e mysql-server-3.23.58-1.9.i386.rpm
error: package mysql-server-3.23.58-1.9.i386.rpm is not installed

[root@localhost mike]# rpm -i mysql-server-3.23.58-1.9.i386.rpm
package mysql-server-3.23.58-1.9 is already installed

Mike,

Most likely the name that you're entering for the rpm is not correct.

Try the command "rpm -qa | grep mysql". This should list all installed
rpm packages that have the string "mysql" in their name. You should see
the correct name of the package (as rpm sees it) and then you'll know
what to enter in your rpm -e command.
