Post subject: XRandr issue
Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>x (more info?)

Hi all.

I've been quite happy over the years using 2 seperate graphics cards
wuth X and the common Xinerama config.

BUT! I'm an Ubuntu user and I've upgraded to Gutsy Gibbon (7.10).
7.10 is equipped with the latest OSS ATI and Intel drivers.
This means that Xinerama support was stripped and everything is now
XRandr 1.2.

Recap:
1 Intel card.
1 Ati card.

A few questions:
- Can XRandr work at all with 2 different devices? (Or is it only 1
device with multiple heads?).
- If it's possible with XRandr to use 2 different devices, how's the
setup done?

Current situation in xorg.conf: 1 ati device using 'ati' driver, 1 intel
device using 'intel' driver (both should be xrandr capable). 2 monitor
sections, 2 screen sections. Xinerama off. and both screen sections
contain a virtual setting of 2560x1024.

When X has started, I get 2 separate session (eg. non-xinerama sessions).
In both screens I can give a 'xrandr -q' and it shows the following:

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 2560 x 1024
Screen 1: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 2560 x 1024

Great... but how do I combine them to 1 virtual desktop of 2560 x 1024?

Thanks in advance for any info.

(ps.. not a crosspost from alt.comp.os.linux, but rather a repost since
this group seems more relevant Wink)
