I am looking for a sponsor for my package "galculator".

* Package name : galculator
Version : 1.3.4-1
Upstream Author : Simon Floery <chimaira DeleteThis @users.sf.net>
* URL : http://galculator.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL-2
Section : math

It builds these binary packages:
galculator - A GTK+ 2.0 based calculator

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 513232

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/galculator
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/galculator/galculator_1.3.4-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Thanks

I try to help, not so much I would like, but it's something. This package is
already in the archive, so it doesn't matter to update it.

My Debian work is more about QA stuff, but I try to report some bugs about
packages.. specially Gnome / GTK related.

Thank you and sorry for wasting your time.

Josselin: "galculator" is hardly "new". It was first packaged by
Sebastien Bacher <seb128.TakeThisOut@debian.org>, and galculator has been
with us in Debian since 19 Feb 2003. And Marco has been very kind
to help keeping this package up-to-date when Sebastien became too
busy.

Marco: If no one else has offered yet, I would like to sponsor your
package. I use Galculator on a low-memory Debian armel and like
its speedy startup time. I tend to procrastinate though, so please
remind me in a private e-mail if you don't see the new version
uploaded before Sunday.

Josselin: Marco is indeed helping the project by keeping an existing
package up-to-date, and indeed galculator is hardly "his pet package".
Galculator is often-used in low-memory environment. Maybe the only
thing you can "find fault" in Marco is that he shouldn't have Cc'ed his
message from debian-mentors to debian-gtk-gnome, though we do that
all the time on debian-chinese-{gb,big5}, and no one ever complained.

Marco, you did nothing wrong. We Debian developers are often
too busy with jobs and Real Life and trying to keep Debian in
good shape in the same time, and Josselin is indeed one of
main contributors to Debian GNOME and busy with many core
Gtk+/GNOME issues, so I can understand where he is coming
from.

That said, I think it may be best that you keep your "Sponsors
requested" on the debian-mentors mailing list. Don't Cc:
simple sponsors request to other mailing lists unless it is
the norm there, because sometimes it does become distracting.
So, you just need to learn to be patient. Or, from now on,
you one more person that you can "poke" (me). Smile

Cheers,

Anthony Fok
