Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>hardware (more info?)

Hello
Does anyone set this or similar 3Com network card successfully?
The list of supported PCMCIA cards contains this model.
But on the other hand I still experience some issues.
I figured out that in new kernels I supposed to replace (disable) the old
cardmgr with new pcmciautils. My Debian 4.0. kernel is 2.6.18-6.
lspcmcia and pccardctl is listing this device, ifconfig can manage this
device (eth1), but I can't still ping anything except loopback.
Someone said that I supposed to use /etc/network/interfaces (if-up,if-down)
rather than ifconfig.
I found information about specific pcmcia configuration in interfaces:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/setting-up-an-network-interfaces-file/
I request for assistance. Smile
Regards
