NIS password not updating right away on NIS client running..

I have several Solaris boxes and a couple of linux boxes running
CentOS on the same NIS domain. The Master server is running solaris
10, there is a slave server running solaris 8.

If a user uses yppasswd on any box (solaris or CentOS) to change his
password, the change is seen right away on all of the solaris boxes
(servers and clients) - but it takes several minutes to update on the
CentOS clients - and seems like it won't update on a CentOS client at
all if you keep trying to log in before it's updated the password info
- as though every time you try and log in, it resets the clock.
You've got to wait the appropriate amount of time after your last
attempt, or it will continue to see the old password.

Anyone know why this might be?

The obvious workaround is to just wait, but it's pretty annoying as I
always like to check that it has actually worked correctly.

Are you running a name server cache daemon? (e.g. nscd)

Kill it... (disable it)
