Archived from groups: alt>os>linux>debian (more info?)

Hello,

I just report what User lkgf wrote in the german Heise-Forum (thanks a lot
to him, he saved my day). His (and mine) keyboard didn't work at the KDE
login - bad situation. Thank god at least the mouse did. Maybe his solution
helps others which face the same problem.

He recognized with 'dpkg-reconfigure kdm':
Use of uninitialized value in join or string at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/DbDriver/Stack.pm line 104, <GEN6> line 5.
Removing obsolete /etc/kde3/kdm/Xservers (detected no user changes).
Use of uninitialized value in substitution (s///) at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Format/822.pm line 83.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Format/822.pm line 84.

'grep kdm /var/log/syslog' told him:
kdm_config[2648]: Unrecognized key 'Xservers' in section [General] at
/etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc:55
kdm_config[2648]: Unrecognized key 'SessionTypes' in section
[X-*-Greeter] at /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc:248

Probably the result of a broken debconf.

And now the solution: He (and me) moved in /etc/kde3/kdm the old and foul
kdmrc whith kdmrc.dpkg-dist (mv kdmrc.dpkg-dist kdmrc). And voila - the
keyboard works.

Regards

BTW, I forgot to mention: This could happen after an update from sarge to
etch.
