Hi,
Will anything bad happen if I install, via rpm, a kernel that is not
appropriate for my computer?
For example, if I have an Athlon processor computer and install an i686
kerenl, or if I have an i686 machine and install the i586 kernel.
Many thanks,
Joe

You may want to reboot and roll back to your old kernel.

From what you are saying it appears that installing the "inappropriate"
kernel will work but it is not optimum.
Thanks,
Joe
