As some other reviews have mentioned, labeling this as a 500 watt unit is a bit inaccurate, as the US version is really only 320 watts. That does not detract from the fact that this is a very effective blender. I have used large commercial sized immersion blenders in a professional kitchen which would be overkill for home use, but the Dualit is perfect for my needs. I have used it for emulsifying salad dressings and blending fruit smoothies. It quickly purees fairly thick soups (gallon-sized quantities in a large stock pot) with no stalling or overheating. I highly recommend it.
It's worked great so far. Our experience with hand immersion blenders is that the motors burn out. So, this time we bought one with a more powerful motor and we're hoping for the best. At the box stores and such it's hard to find one a more than 250 watt motor, this one has a 500 watt motor.
dualit immersion blender from dualit is absolutely fabulous. variable speed from 9000 rpm to 17000 rpm (turbo button) allows you to blend, puree, and froth within seconds. cookbook included. Highly recommend it as its the best stick blender we're ever tried
I have owned several of these in other brands. This is the best one. Plenty of power. Works great. Highly recommend.
I wanted to share this with others who may order this for the 500watts of power - it is only 320 watts! I burned out a 250w blender recently, and ordered this thinking it was double power. It wasn't much heavier when I removed it from the box, so I looked at the motor, and it said 320w. Evidently the 500w was the power of the european/220v motor, even though the outside of the box says plain as can be "500w". Needless to say, I returned it. I can't really rate it, just say it isn't what it says it is.
The Dualit Immersion Hand Blender is robust, compact and versatile with stainless steel long life blades. The high level of control over the powerful 500 watt motor allows you to tailor the performance to every recipe and kitchen need. You can blend, chop, grind and purify for either everyday tasks or entertaining guests. Variable speed control-9000 to 16000 rpm; Pulse button-17000 rpm.
