Is there a programme that will cycle through JPEG images and make the
background in Suse? Something that can be configured to change over a
time interval?

If you right click on the desktop and choose "Configure Desktop" one of
the choices is Slide Show with a setup button next to it.

I presume this does what you want I have never used it Smile

That will be only with KDE. I have a script that will do the same on
most other GUI's as well.
http://houghi.org/script/background2
I have two screens. If you only have one, comment the lines that begin
with COUNT1 and DISPLAY=:0.1
Als change the DIR to the directory where you have your jpg files.

I then put the following in 'crontab -e'
1-59/3 * * * * /home/houghi/bin/background2 > /dev/null 2>&1

This will give me two new pics (one on each screen) every 3 minutes.
