Hallo,

I noticed lately that my system, an ASUS P5ND2-SLI, does not
automagically reboot after a power-fail. I *think* it used to.
Probably it is some setting in the BIOS, but I can't find it.
Does anybody know which setting it is?

Groeten,

Hans.

Without knowing what BIOS your system has, there should be something
like a "Power" tab, and then an "After power failure" setting, which
you can then set to "on", "off", or "last state".

Addendum: If the BIOS set-up program seems to suddenly take on other
settings than what you had configured, then this may be a sign of the
CMOS battery having died. Just a FYI. Wink

Hallo Phil

I found that on my system there are only two possibilities: enable
or disable. I changed it to enable, and it seems to work now. At least,
when I pull the plug for some time, it comes back on. I don't know yet
what will happen when the aardlekschakelaar (sorry, I dont know an
English word for it; it is meant to switch when there is a very small
current from power to earth) switches again. Luckily that does not
happen very often, just sometimes during a thunderstorm.

I've been thinking about an UPS, but it seems not to be worth it.
My system is not running anything critical, and power failures are
very rare.

Hello all others who gave some advice: thank you very much.

Groeten,

Hans.

Consider that if the power blips it might just do it several times in a very
short span of time. Not good for computers. You should find a UPS so you
can "ride through" short power dips or outages.
