That doesn't much help if nobody's seeding. I'm seeding the first CD. I
installed with that, then downloaded the rest of the series with wget
and installed from HD. Works pretty good.

I am afraid that all I can seed is the DVD ISO.

Baloney. I just tried it (using Transmission torrent client) on the
first CD, and immediately had 36 connected seeders. Within 30 seconds it
was downloading at over 1MB/sec. Sounds like you have some kind of
problem with your torrent client, or firewall issues.

FYI - You can check the status of the slackware torrents at:
http://trackers.transamrit.net:8082/
which currently shows 86 seeders for disk 1 with plenty of seeders
connected for over 5 days with one over 19 days.
Methinks the problem is on your end.

There is a fast more reliable method called "f t p"
Check out the slackware.com mirror list, I know its well out of date and
un-maintained, but you'll find one soon enough, if your in Asia/Pacific
region, ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/slackware/slackware-13.0-iso is
gauranteed to be working.

FTP isn't "more reliable" since bittorrent has better error checking/
correction. FTP transfers with files that big will time out a lot of
times. And if your ISP doesn't throttle torrents then it isn't even
faster. I was downloading the slackware 13 dvd at like 300kBps over
ftp and when I switched to bittorrent and started getting 1.4MBps.
And yes, I meant to put MegaBytes. |

There are plenty of people seeding (over 80). That's why I posted the
link.

BT downloads are counted data towards a users quota, an FTP mirror may not
be, FTP mirrors usually gaurantee full speed, unlike torrents, many ISP's
use devices called net enforcers and (other brands that do same job) that
traffic prioritise data so the warez pups down screw over the honest decent
user, therfor torrents can be rate limited in peak times to slow speeds
I'll take FTP over torrents anytime.

My ISP gimps bittorrent traffic through throttling so ftp is generally
faster, but my connection at work isn't throttled. And 300KBps isn't
my top speed at home, and nowhere near my top speed at work. So FTP
mirrors are NOT always faster. |
